If your business supports WAY 102-7 by underwriting the station's program costs, acknowledgement of that support is mentioned regularly on WAY 102-7. These "mentions" are aired at the top of each hour (between five a.m. and midnight) and continually rotated allowing them to be heard at different times of the day. |

Why underwrite WAY102-7?
Underwriting programs on WAY102-7 allows a business to get their name out into the community on a daily basis. This public exposure results in better business name recognition, point of purchase recall of the business name and public awareness of the business support for local broadcasting. |
WAY 102-7 is a non-commercial, non-profit community radio station. Unlike commercial stations, WAY 102-7 may not sell commercial time to cover operating expenses. Instead, the station relies on the support of the community it serves to stay on the air. This support may come in many forms. Fundraising- both on air and off, listener contributions, business program partners and even buying WAY 102-7 stuff! Most of the station's financial support comes from individuals, churches, organizations and businesses support by underwriting the daily operations of WAY 102-7. While our listeners are the major contributors to WAY 102-7, we welcome support from local businesses and other non-profits via underwriting.
What is underwriting? Underwriting is paying the cost of broadcasting for a certain program or length of time in return for an on air announcement, or what we like to call a "mention". By underwriting a WAY 102-7 program, a business contributes to WAY 102-7 operations and is thanked for that contribution during that program or time. Businesses may underwrite with money or with a trade of goods or services.
What underwriting is not: Underwriting is not advertising. Mentions do differ from the conventional ads you hear on commercial radio station. The difference between mentions and ads (commercials) is a matter of wording. There is no "call to action" or "qualitative" wording. WAY 102-7 is committed to our non-commercial status and adheres strictly to the FCC's guidelines for non-commercial radio station announcements. Underwriting announcements are regulated by the FCC and must conform to the following guidelines:

- Value-neutral description of product or services
- Product or service listings that aid in identifying the business
- 40 second maximum
- Not allowed:
- Comparisons and endorsements
- Qualitative Statements
- Expression of views
- Superlative Descriptions
- Price or Value Information
- Calls to Action
WAY 102-7's underwriting announcements may be prerecorded or read live.
| An example of a mention would be: "This program is supported by you, the WAY 102-7 listener, and by ABC, whose product 123 is available at XYZ. They can be reached at...". WAY 102-7 and the business will negotiate the actual wording of the underwriting announcement. |

It's a great mix of today's hits and yesterday's favorites with artists such as Jars Of Clay, Casting Crowns, Jeremy Camp, Big Daddy Weave, and Building 429. You'll here the most popular artists along with the newcomers!
